Membership

This is a wonder-based religion inspiring members to make the most of this life by being engaged in serving others, and instead of predatory living, valuing most being valued by others.

You are free to make or keep any ritual which aids you in remembering the tenet-no cheating. Journal, meditate, walk in the park, work at a lunch kitchen, etc. Adjust the activity as needs proscribe. Just be mindful while doing it of the tenet to value yourself as others value you and everyone has the potential to be your best friend.

Membership is $1.00 per month, collected annually to reduce the collection cost. If you can’t afford $12.00, don’t join, spend the time and money you have on nutrition and shelter. INSERT PAY APP!

Pledge: I will cheat no one, avoiding instances of even the appearance of behavior that took something from someone without proper restitution. I will drive a car like everyone on the road is my best friend. I will date others like he or she is the offspring of my life’s role model. I will work like I am the beneficiary of my labor’s profit. I will supervise others like they are my family. I will parent as I would have been parented (no violence). I will converse with others and respect their beliefs even if they are repugnant to me. I will never recruit people to the APR, but refer them to the web-site if asked. I will be transparent in my actions whenever possible. I will serve others and measure the value of my life in the number and extent others value me.

Transparency: every dollar contributed will be accounted for in the yearly audit. No contributor to the site can earn more than the minimum wage. Expenditures will only made for the audit, web-site maintenance and an annual conference (air-fare and hotel costs) of volunteers interested in improving the web-site.

No one is excluded from joining, buy if it is determined you fail to live up to the pledge you will be disqualified.

Members could easily form a guild, a guild of honest traders, whose costs and profits are clearly posted for cross examination by customers to avoid gouging and dishonest practices, loss leaders and phony discounts. Here is what I am selling, here is what you get, here is what it costs me to stay in business and here is what I make as a profit, and here is what you are not getting and why it may not meet your needs.

There is no clergy. There is a governing board to maintain the web-site, and investigate members who have been accused of cheating or recruiting. If you would like to volunteer for a position on the board, log on here.*

Can I still believe in god and an afterlife? Yes, as no one will know until they die, but be mindful, belief in heaven and hell is counter-constructive, no better proof than suicide bombers.

As an aside, let’s understand afterlife’s provenance. In order for there to be an afterlife we would need 1) a life dimension apart from the existence we know and sense, 2) a creator of this life dimension apart from the physical world we live, 3) a remnant of ourselves that incorporates all of us, but is non-corporal and sustains itself after our physical body has ceased its play on the earth. None of these are easily imaginable. We can’t really imagine an all powerful God, God and unimaginable start the reasoning in a loop. We can’t imagine an “I” or soul which incorporates all we are or ever have been, especially when we consider we change everyday, every minute, every second. We can’t imagine a place of complete serenity, we can’t even imagine infinite. Looking at all the dominoes we must  believe in to make afterlife work, combined with the knowledge that no one we have ever known has returned to report on it, when there is nothing stopping them from coming back, unless we posit another series of definition dominoes stopping them. It all makes the conceit untenable, and its supporters con-men, tin cups in our faces, threats of going to hell their bait. We defer their entreaty.
